Ingredients

  • 3-4 lbs beef brisket single layer, well trimmed
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • some garlic powder
  • 6-8 carrots peeled and cut in large pieces
  • 6-8 potatoes pared and cut in quarters

Instructions

  • Put brisket in blue roasting pan.
  • Fill with water until meat is almost covered.
  • Sprinkle in dry onion soup mix.
  • Sprinkle with garlic powder.
  • Cook for 1 hour at 350o.
  • Add carrots and potatoes.
  • Cook for 45 minutes more or until meat is partially tender.
  • Remove from oven.
  • Slice meat thinly across the grain.
  • Return to pan and freeze for later use, if desired.
  • Complete cooking until tender.

Notes

Must use blue roasting pan!
Line blue roasting pan with heavy duty foil to make clean up easier.
