Grandma's Sticky Stuffing

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb boiled chestnuts large
  • 3 long loaves white slice bread OR
  • 8 8 oz bags WONDER stuffing cubes
  • 8 stalks celery
  • 1 large onion
  • 4 eggs
  • less than 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbs salt scant, 1/2 garlic salt
  • 2 sticks margarine

Instructions

  • Toast bread and crumble.
  • Add water a little at a time until moist.  Makes about 5 cups for bread or about 7 cups for WONDER stuffing cubes.
  • Meanwhile boil chestnuts, cool, remove shells, and chop coarsely. chestnuts may be prepared in advance.
  • Cut celery and onion small and saute in margarine.
  • Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
