Aunt Marian's Chile Con Carne

Ingredients

  • 2 tbs. shortening melted
  • 1 large onion cut in small pieces
  • 3 lbs ground beef
  • 2 cans tomato soup
  • 2 cans kidney beans
  • 1 small can pimento or 1/2 large can
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • to taste garlic powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • to taste paprika

Instructions

  • Saute onion in shortening a few minutes (not brown) in a Dutch oven.  
  • Add ground beef and let brown.
  • Mash up pimento, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper and paprika and add to mixture.
  • Add soup and beans and just a little water.
  • Cook another hour.
